Happy Thursday Everyone!! I want to start another sequence of posts that highlights small businesses of people who don’t necessarily have backgrounds in business. I hope their stories inspire you to follow what you want to do and possibly peruse a business minor to further develop that interest.
The first one I want to highlight is Tim’s Place, a restaurant owned by Tim Harris in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tim Harris is an amazing person who actually came to speak at last years 25th Annual Fall Festival of Special Olympics hosted right here at Villanova. Tim is an incredibly inspiring individual who had a dream of starting a business and defying what the world thought of him.
Tim was born with Downs Syndrome in 1986 and was determined to exceed the expectations set for him. Every since he was a teenager, he dreamed of owning a restaurant and in 2010, that dream came true. He is famous for serving amazing food seven days a week in addition to his amazing hugs (which he has given over 60,000 to this day). According to Tim, “my favorite part of all is the people coming through the front door. My hugs are way more important than the food… The food is just food!” So here is a video about Tim and his restaurant! Tim said that “I am here to tell you that dreams come true” and I am sure that there has never been anything more true.
This weekend is the 26th Annual Fall Festival at Villanova and it is never too late to volunteer! Special Olympics is an amazing organization and being a part of the weekend is truly life changing.
